 Sifiso Dlamini has had a passion for sneakers since he was a small boy. He knew that one day he would design and make his own shoes. After school he ran a spaza and games shop at home to provide an income whilst he started taking apart old shoes to get an idea of how they are put together.
In 2009 Sifiso registered his company, Eish Hade, and produced his first sneaker designs. Despite only having one machine to create the shoes, he made and sold a number of pairs. In March of that year he came to The Business Place Joburg looking for assistance in getting training to make shoes and funding to buy equipment.
After a number of one-on-one consultations at TBP, Sifiso was referred to ChemCity. This Sasol Group company assists entrepreneurs in creating business plans to gain access to funding. They facilitated training for him, where he will learn about how to produce top quality products. Meanwhile, Sifiso has been making samoosas to bring in more funds whilst he is busy designing his second set of sneakers and developing his business.
His next mission is to brand the label and make catalogues. He has already made contact with a shoe shop in central Joburg where he can sell his shoes once he has a bigger range in more colours. Sifiso’s ambitions are high – he wants to see his shoes on billboards, being worn by celebrities and on the catwalks during fashion weeks. He is quick to acknowledge the help provided to him by The Business Place:
